Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Westshore Grand has no pool, and that is the fact most likely to wreck a booking here. Older listings still show one. The hotel's own FAQ says there isn't one, and guests who arrived planning to swim have cut stays short over it. International Plaza and Bay Street are about a 7-minute walk, with a Publix across the street. A free shuttle runs to Tampa International every 30 minutes between 6am and 11pm, which makes this a practical base for a Westshore meeting or an early flight. Rooms usually get called clean and roomy with comfortable beds. They also get called dated, along with the public spaces, and management has said as much in its replies to guests. The building sits inside the Urban Centre office complex, so a lower-floor or courtyard room can look straight into office windows; several guests kept the curtains shut all stay. Front-desk service swings between agents who rescue a bad arrival and curt, rushed handling when check-in gets busy. Event groups separately report loose coordination. The hotel's own pages list no resort fee, so check the booking screen before you pay. Self-parking is $20 a day and valet is $35, and the garage has its own entrance a long walk from the rooms, which you'll feel when you're hauling luggage in.
