Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Many rooms here are suites, with a separate sleeping area and a sofa bed, and guests describe them as large enough for a family to spread out. The bay is the other thing they bring up. Old Tampa Bay fills the view from the pool deck and from many rooms, and guests make a point of watching the sunset over it. Self-parking is $25 a day, with no valet, and Hilton's page doesn't say whether tax comes on top. A recurring complaint is that guests only learned about that charge at check-in. The hotel publishes no resort fee. Breakfast is extra on most rates, and guests find it overpriced for what shows up. Room condition is uneven. Some rooms feel dated and worn, and slow drains turn up in the weaker stays, though most of the plumbing reports on record are several years old. You won't know which kind you've drawn until you open the door. The front desk comes up for small fixes, like an early check-in or returning a lost item. For parents whose kids need a second room's worth of space, the suite layout does the job. Anyone who wants parking and breakfast in one price, or a renovated room guaranteed, should look elsewhere in Westshore.

Open in Maps →Rocky Point is a finger of land off the Courtney Campbell Causeway, with Old Tampa Bay on one side and Tampa International Airport a few minutes inland. A handful of other waterfront hotels share the point, including Sailport Waterfront Suites and The Current, but there's little else within walking distance. For restaurants or shopping in Westshore, plan on a car or a rideshare.

Is there a resort fee at the DoubleTree Rocky Point?
None that the hotel publishes. Hilton's page for the property lists a parking charge and a pet fee but no resort or destination fee. Any mandatory charge has to show on the final booking screen, so give that a look before you pay.
What does parking cost?
$25 a day to self-park, with in/out privileges. Hilton's page doesn't say whether tax is added on top.
Is there valet parking?
No. Self-parking is the only option. If you're driving something oversized, the hotel publishes no rate and says to contact it directly.
Are the rooms suites?
Many of them are. Guests describe suites with a separate sleeping area and a sofa bed, but not every room is one, so check the room type on your booking if you need the extra space.
Is breakfast included?
Usually not. Most rates cover the room only, and guests find the on-site breakfast pricey for what you get. Read the rate description before you book if breakfast matters to you.
