Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

The Westin Tampa Bay finished a renovation in mid-2026 that had run since 2025, and the rebuilt pool is the part guests talk about now. People who stayed after it reopened in July speak well of it. The rooms were refreshed in the same work, and the view over the bay still gets more mentions than anything else. Beds and pillows earn steady credit, as does the restaurant, for its food and for the service at the table. Arrival is where stays go wrong. Guests describe waiting in a long line at the desk to learn their room isn't ready, with nobody able to say when it will be. Those reports continue into September 2026. A smaller group describes rude or dismissive treatment at the desk and on the phone, and a few guests had to chase a charge above their quoted rate or a deposit that never came back, so keep your confirmation handy. If your flight into Tampa International lands well before check-in, plan on lunch at the restaurant rather than counting on the room. Valet costs $35 a day, and self-parking is $27 a day or $10 by the hour. The hotel's own page lists no resort or destination fee. Downtown Tampa's restaurants are a drive from the causeway.

You're on Rocky Point Island, a strip of land out in Tampa Bay along the Courtney Campbell Causeway, at the western edge of Westshore. Tampa International Airport is a short drive away and downtown Tampa is farther, so plan on the car for anything past the hotel grounds.

The Westin Tampa Bay FAQ

Does The Westin Tampa Bay charge a resort fee?

None is listed. The hotel's own page itemizes check-in, parking and pet charges and shows no resort or destination fee. Check the final total on the booking screen before you pay.

How much is parking at The Westin Tampa Bay?

Valet is $35 a day. Self-parking is $27 a day, or $10 by the hour. The hotel doesn't publish a rate for oversized vehicles.

What time is check-in, and will my room be ready?

Check-in is 4pm and you must be 21. Guests through September 2026 report waiting in a long line only to find the room not ready, with no estimate of when it would be, so leave slack if you have evening plans.

Is the pool open?

Yes, going by guests since July 2026. The pool was rebuilt in a renovation that finished mid-2026. The hotel's page still carries an old notice saying the pool is unavailable, right next to copy promoting the new one.

Can I walk to downtown Tampa from the hotel?

No. The hotel is out on the causeway, and downtown means driving. It's better placed for Tampa International Airport.

Does The Westin Tampa Bay allow pets?

Yes, up to two pets of 40 pounds or less. The fee is $50 a day, non-refundable, with a $150 cap per stay.
