Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
There is no self-parking at this 360-suite Embassy Suites by the Tampa Convention Center. Valet is the only option, listed by the hotel at $55 without saying whether that is nightly or before tax. At checkout and other busy stretches, guests wait 40 minutes to an hour for their car, so call for it well before you have to leave. Once it's parked you can mostly forget about it, because guests walk to the convention center and to games and concerts at Benchmark International Arena (formerly Amalie Arena). Breakfast is included and has a made-to-order egg station, and the evening reception goes down well with people who spent the day on the show floor. Suites are roomy and clean, and families like the separate living room. Some guests found their room wasn't cleaned every day and had to ask for fresh towels. Hilton's booking screen adds a $35-a-night mandatory destination charge, plus tax, that the hotel's info page doesn't list. It covers premium Wi-Fi, a $15 daily food and beverage credit (not good for room service), a $22 daily dry cleaning credit, a four-hour e-bike rental for two and two bottled waters a day, and some guests say nobody mentioned it at booking or check-in.
