Gaylord Palms is built to keep you inside all day, and it mostly pulls it off. One 4.5-acre glass dome covers three themed atriums, St. Augustine, the Everglades, and Key West, so you walk past Spanish-fort walls, swamp foliage, and a harbor set just to reach your room. The St. Augustine atrium holds a live spring habitat with roughly 20 alligators through a Wild Florida partnership, with scheduled Croc Squad feedings, plus baby gators and snakes over in the Everglades wing. Cypress Springs Water Park runs about 3 acres: four slides, a FlowRider surf simulator, an action river, a zero-entry pool, the adults-only South Beach pool, and a multi-level kids' playground. Old Hickory Steakhouse carries a AAA Four-Diamond rating for the nights you never want to leave. Weigh the fee stack honestly. A roughly $51 resort fee plus about $40 self-parking (valet runs $55) adds close to $90 a night before you buy a thing, and water park access can require a separate day-pass. It's a 1,400-plus-room convention hotel, so lanyards and crowds come with the territory, and every theme park means a drive, about 7.5 miles to Epcot. It suits families who want a full resort day without setting foot in a park, and anyone who'll work that water park hard.
