When we read the booking screens here on October 29, 2026, the largest hotel fee was The Rittenhouse's $40.73 with tax, and the Sofitel's $32.58 Urban Experience Fee sat at the low end. Valet runs $55 to $75 a night on the hotel pages we could read, so on a stay with a car the parking costs more than any of those fees.

Leisure now leads Center City's hotel demand, 37 percent of 2025 room nights against 30 percent each for group and business, so weekends weigh more than the newest day-of-week split shows. That split is from 2019, when Saturday was the busiest night at 88.1 percent occupancy and Tuesday the busiest weeknight at 79.4 percent. Winter is the slow stretch. Visit Philly's 2025 series has Center City 54, 52 and 56 percent full in December, January and February, and Tourism Economics forecasts average rates for all three below October, November, April and May. July and August are a second forecast dip, with August's forecast rate level with December's.
In the cheap winter weeks, the Auto Show runs 16 to 24 January 2027 at the Convention Center. March 2027 has the Flower Show, listed for 13 to 21 March. The biggest convention on the books, the AIA conference at 66,000 room nights, runs 19 to 22 May 2027, and Penn's commencement follows on 24 May 2027. On 4 July 2027 the Phillies host the Mariners. For a game, NRG Station is a Broad Street Line ride south, at Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park and the arena beside them, and SEPTA has run extra Sports Express trains there before Eagles games. The fare is $2.90, the same as on the Market-Frankford Line, and the two lines meet at 15th Street/City Hall with a free transfer.
We read eight of the hotels' booking screens on October 29 and 30, 2026, and three showed a fee. The Rittenhouse's $35 Destination Fee sits inside the price it shows, with $5.73 of tax on top, $40.73 in all. The Kimpton Palomar adds a $28 Guest Amenity Fee on top, $32.58 with tax, and the Sofitel's $32.58 Urban Experience Fee is inside the price Accor lists. The room itself is taxed 15.5 percent, or about 16.25 percent at hotels with 50 or more rooms, which add the 0.75 percent PHiL levy. Valet on the pages we read runs from Motto's $55 to The Rittenhouse's $75, while the DoubleTree sells covered self-parking for $48, and the city taxes parking too. Visit Philly's Overnight Package adds free parking worth up to $100 at hotels in the program, and the Westin advertises it.
December through February are the slowest months. In Visit Philly's 2025 series, Center City hotels ran 54, 52 and 56 percent full in December, January and February, and Tourism Economics forecasts the year's lowest average rate for January, with December and February below October, November, April and May. July and August are a second dip, and August's forecast rate is level with December's. The Auto Show (16 to 24 January 2027) falls inside the cheap window. Saturday was the busiest night in the newest published day-of-week split, from 2019.
Three of the eight whose booking screens we read, on October 29 and 30, 2026: The Rittenhouse ($35 Destination Fee inside the price it shows, plus $5.73 tax on top, $40.73 a night), the Kimpton Palomar ($28 Guest Amenity Fee, $32.58 with tax, added on top of the room) and the Sofitel ($32.58 Urban Experience Fee, inside the price Accor lists). The Warwick, the Westin, Motto, the DoubleTree and Club Quarters showed none. Hyatt Centric, the Bellevue and the Cambria are not yet read.
On the hotel pages we could read, an overnight price for a regular car runs $48 to $75. Self-parking is $48 a day at the DoubleTree and $50 at the Warwick. Valet is $55 at Motto, $57 plus tax at the Palomar (the hotel's map page, which may be out of date), $59 at the Warwick, $70 at the Westin and $75 at The Rittenhouse ($85 oversized). Search summaries of Hyatt's pages put the Bellevue's garage at $50 to park yourself and $76 for valet, and Hyatt Centric's valet from $69.60 with no unit shown. The Sofitel lists valet with no rate, Club Quarters has no parking on site and the Cambria's is unresolved. An Inquirer guide from March 2024 listed public garages near the square at $26 for 24 hours at the Penn Warwick Garage (1708 Chancellor) and $48 for 24 hours at 1845 Walnut; rates may have risen.
15.5 percent: the City's 8.5 percent hotel tax plus the 7 percent Hotel Occupancy Tax (6 percent Commonwealth, 1 percent City). Hotels with 50 or more rooms add the 0.75 percent Philadelphia Hospitality Investment Levy (PHiL), about 16.25 percent in all, and the booking screens we read printed 16.25 to 16.37 percent. A hotel fee can carry its own tax: The Rittenhouse's $35 carries $5.73, and the Palomar's $28 carries its own City Tax. Parking is taxed separately.
The Rittenhouse is on the square itself; our street-routed walk, timed to the same point in the square for every hotel, gives it 4 minutes. The rest, by the same route: 3 minutes at the Warwick, 4 at Hyatt Centric, 5 at the Sofitel, 6 at the Palomar, 7 at Club Quarters and Motto, 8 at the Westin, 9 at the Bellevue and 10 at the Cambria and the DoubleTree.
Take SEPTA's Airport Line to Suburban Station, at 16th Street and JFK Boulevard. It costs $8.75 with a Key card or contactless payment ($11.00 on board), runs every 30 minutes and takes about 28 minutes from Terminals E and F by the timetable. Buses 37, 108 and 115 also serve the airport, at $2.90. By car, The Rittenhouse's FAQ puts the airport at 7.6 miles, about 30 minutes.
