Typhoon Lagoon's last operating day is September 8, 2026. Disney closes the park for refurbishment on September 9, 2026 and has not announced a reopening date, which leaves Blizzard Beach as the only Disney water park running from that date on. For a visit before then the draw is real. The surf pool covers 2.5 acres and pushes six-foot waves on a roughly 90-second cycle, the largest outdoor wave pool in North America. Crush 'n' Gusher fires rafts of up to three riders uphill through an abandoned fruit-processing plant on three flumes, the Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger. Humunga Kowabunga drops you down three enclosed 214-foot chutes for a five-story fall that hits about 30 mph. The catch is capacity. Disney stops admitting guests once the park fills, and on hot summer days Typhoon Lagoon has closed its gates to new arrivals by early afternoon, which is why the standing advice is to be at the entrance for the 10 a.m. opening. Shade and loungers go first. The second catch is height: both headline thrills require 48 inches, so a family with a smaller kid splits up between Ketchakiddee Creek and the lines the adults came for. Waits usually sit at 15 to 30 minutes for slides that last a few seconds, and thunderstorms clear the whole park, which is routine on Florida summer afternoons.

When does Typhoon Lagoon close for refurbishment?

Disney directs guests to Blizzard Beach for the duration, so confirm the park's status on Disney's page before planning any visit dated after September 8, 2026.
Is Typhoon Lagoon included in a Disney World park ticket?
No, it needs separate admission. There are three normal routes in: a 1-day water park ticket, the Water Park and Sports option added to a multi-day theme park ticket, or the Park Hopper Plus upgrade. The last two both grant a set number of water park visits equal to the length of your base ticket, and those visits can be used flexibly rather than one per day.
Do Disney hotel guests get in free?
On check-in day only, for stays checking in between May 26 and September 8, 2026. Disney's water park benefit gives Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests complimentary water park admission on their arrival day, entered with a MagicBand, MagicMobile pass or Key to the World card. The perk ends the same day Typhoon Lagoon closes, and Disney has said it returns in summer 2027.
How long do you need at Typhoon Lagoon?

Summer crowds stretch the day, and arriving for the 10 a.m. opening matters more than staying late, since Disney can close the gates to new arrivals by early afternoon once the park fills.
What are the height requirements?
48 inches for both headline rides, Humunga Kowabunga and Crush 'n' Gusher. Miss Adventure Falls has no stated minimum, but riders have to sit up unaided and hold the handles. Going the other way, Ketchakiddee Creek is reserved for children 48 inches and under and Bay Slides for kids 60 inches and under, so the youngest and tallest in a group end up in different parts of the park.
Is Typhoon Lagoon worth it?
Yes for a day on or before September 8, 2026, if you can swim and you arrive at opening. The surf pool is the largest outdoor wave pool in North America and Crush 'n' Gusher has no equivalent elsewhere on Disney property. Skip it if most of your group is under 48 inches, if rough water makes you uneasy, or if the only slot you have is a mid-afternoon arrival in peak season, when the park may already be closed to new guests.
