As of August 2026 Blizzard Beach is open and Disney has not announced a closing date for it. Typhoon Lagoon's last day is September 8, 2026, so from September 9 Blizzard Beach is the Disney water park still running, and Disney has not said when Typhoon Lagoon comes back. The two parks alternate multi-month refurbishment closures, so expect Blizzard Beach to take its own turn once Typhoon Lagoon reopens, and check Disney's park calendar before you commit to dates. The park is 66 acres built on a gag about a Florida ski resort that melted, which gives you a chairlift to the summit, a 3,000-foot lazy river, an eight-lane racing slide, and Teamboat Springs, a 1,400-foot family raft run Disney bills as one of the longest of its kind. Summit Plummet, the 120-foot speed slide that hits around 60 mph, is what most people queue for. The catch is capacity. Disney stops admitting guests once a water park fills, and Blizzard Beach fills early on hot days, weekends and holidays, helped by the free check-in-day water park visit Disney gave resort guests arriving through September 8, 2026. On a warm Saturday in February 2026 the parking lot itself filled and arriving cars were sent to Animal Kingdom to park and shuttle over. Be at the gate by opening or come back after about 2 p.m. The three headline slides all require 48 inches, which shuts small kids out of exactly what the park is known for.

Is Blizzard Beach open, and when does it close?
Open as of August 2026, with no closing date announced. It stays open when Typhoon Lagoon closes after September 8, 2026, which leaves it as the Disney water park operating from September 9. The two parks alternate multi-month refurbishment closures, so expect Blizzard Beach to take its turn once Typhoon Lagoon reopens, though Disney has not put a date on either. Is Blizzard Beach included in my Disney World park ticket?
No. It needs separate admission. There are three normal routes in: a 1-day water park ticket, which admits you to one water park for that day; the Water Park and Sports option added to a multi-day theme park ticket, which gives you a set number of visits; or the Park Hopper Plus upgrade, which bundles those same visits with same-day park hopping. Disney also gave resort guests one free water park visit on check-in day for arrivals through September 8, 2026, and has said that perk returns in summer 2027.
How long do you need at Blizzard Beach?
About four to five hours. It is a half-day park for most people. Arrive at opening and work slide to slide and you can clear the whole lineup before lunch, which also gets you past the headline slides before midday lines build.
What are the height requirements at Blizzard Beach?
48 inches for the three headliners: Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher and Downhill Double Dipper. The chairlift to the summit requires 32 inches. Tike's Peak is reserved for children 48 inches and under. Mat slides such as Snow Stormers and Toboggan Racers carry no posted minimum, so a shorter child still has plenty to ride, just none of the big three.
Does Blizzard Beach fill up and turn people away?
Yes, on hot days, weekends and holidays. Disney stops admitting guests once a water park reaches capacity, and Blizzard Beach fills early, helped by the free check-in-day water park visit Disney included for resort guests arriving through September 8, 2026. On a warm Saturday in February 2026 the parking lot filled and cast members redirected arriving cars to Animal Kingdom to park and shuttle over. Be at the entrance by opening, or come after about 2 p.m. once the morning crowd starts leaving.
Is Blizzard Beach worth it?
Worth it on a hot day if at least one person in your group clears 48 inches. Summit Plummet and Teamboat Springs are the real draws, the chairlift ride to the top is a genuine novelty for a water park, and parking is free. It makes less sense if everyone is under 48 inches or if you are trading away your last theme park day for it.
