Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Two nights at the Morrow with a car put $60 of mandatory charges inside the rate Hilton lists and $130 of valet outside it. Hilton's hotel page lists the valet at $65 a day and no self-parking. From 222 M St NE, Union Station is 16 minutes on foot (three-quarters of a mile), at least 8 minutes longer than the walk from any of the six closest hotels. Hilton's page allows pets for a $100 non-refundable fee. The same page gives 4 PM for check-in and 11 AM for checkout. The charge itself is $30.00 a night, already included in the rate on Hilton's November 17 screen, with taxes and government charges added after. It covers guest internet, a $10 daily food and beverage credit, two bottles of water, morning refreshments and evening tea in the lobby, and bicycle rentals. Use the credit and you get back a third of the charge.
