Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Every suite at the Residence Inn has a full-size refrigerator, a stovetop, a microwave and a coffee maker, and breakfast is included. For a stay of several nights, that kitchen is worth the 16-minute walk to The Anthem from 333 E St SW. Sirens and street noise reach some rooms. No fee appeared beside the rates on Marriott's booking screen for November 17, so the bill is the room plus the 15.95% District tax. You can park on site for $59 a day before any parking tax, but spaces are limited and first come, first served, and there's no electric vehicle charging. Pets are welcome, up to two at 100 pounds each, for a non-refundable $150. There's no airport shuttle. Marriott bills it as its closest hotel to the US Capitol, and Federal Center SW Metro is nearby. The hotel was the Residence Inn Washington, DC/Capitol before the National Mall name, and older listings still use it.
