Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The elevators at Hyatt Place, 400 E St SW, are slow or unreliable often enough to keep coming up. A per-day incidental deposit can also be slow to come back to your card after checkout. Hyatt's booking screen showed no rooms for November 17 or 18, so it was read for December 8, and it listed rates with no fee line. The District adds its 15.95% to the room. Valet is the only way to park, at $55 overnight at the least, before tax. You must be 21 to check in. Dogs are welcome, two per room at 50 pounds each: $100 a stay for one to six nights, and $200 for seven to 30 nights with cleaning included. Breakfast gets good mentions for its variety, though it gets crowded at peak times. The Anthem is a 14-minute walk. Low floors run louder with the train and the interstate nearby, so ask for a higher one.
