Canopy's booking screen for November 17 showed no mandatory charge anywhere on the rate list, and the hotel, at 975 7th St SW, is four minutes on foot from The Anthem. The InterContinental, two minutes closer, charges $40.58 a night in fee and tax before the room. Here the room carries the District's 15.95% and nothing else until you bring a car. There's no self-parking, and valet is $65 a day before any parking tax when there's space; the hotel's page says it may not be billable to the room. The rooms read as new, and the river views get mentioned a lot. Reviewers also like the restaurant and bakery on site and the rooftop terrace. The in-room climate units cycle on and off, and that's the noise complaint light sleepers raise, so ask about it when you book. Pets are allowed for a non-refundable $50. Check-in is 3 PM and checkout is noon.
