Seven minutes on foot to Reliant Stadium is the shortest walk of the ten hotels we cover here, and it is the whole case for the Wingate at 8600 Kirby Drive. Older listings still call it the Wingate near NRG Park. Wyndham's booking screen for November 17 itemized state tax at 6 percent, city tax at 7 and county occupancy tax at 4, with no fee line, so the bill is the room rate plus 17 percent. Event-goers like the location. Maintenance draws the complaints: a broken ice maker, a slow small elevator, dated decor and a very slow check-in. Breakfast is described as limited. We have no parking price: the hotel's own page wouldn't open for us, and recent complaints describe a nightly parking charge that wasn't made clear at booking, with at least one saying it was never refunded. Ask the front desk for the price before you bring a car, though at seven minutes you may not need one.

Does the Wingate near Reliant Park charge a resort fee?
Wyndham's screen showed none. For November 17, 2026 it itemized state tax at 6 percent, city tax at 7 percent and county occupancy tax at 4 percent, 17 percent in all, and no fee line.

Why do some listings say Wingate near NRG Park?
The park took back the Reliant Park name on August 1, 2026. Wyndham's booking screen now says Reliant Park, older listings still say NRG Park, and the old NRG Park web address on Wyndham's site redirects to a search page.
Is the Wingate the same hotel as the Wyndham on Kirby Drive?
No. The Wingate is at 8600 Kirby Drive and the Wyndham is at 8686, and each has its own booking screen on Wyndham's site.
