Add the mandatory charge to the garage and the Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center comes to $20.99 a night, the lowest total of the five hotels within a 9-minute walk of the Dryden/TMC METRORail station. Hilton's November 17 booking screen showed a $0.99 per night mandatory charge inside the price, which excludes taxes, and the hotel's info page lists self-parking at $20 a day and says valet isn't available. The $0.99 is small enough to ignore. For three nights that's $62.97 before any tax. It's 359 meters to the station, five minutes on foot, and only the Marriott and the Westin sit closer. Pets aren't allowed here, while both of those take them for $50, and check-out is 11 am, an hour earlier than theirs. Guests split on the staff, some praising them and some reporting rude check-ins. Unexpected charges and the parking fee left others calling the stay poor value.
