Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Many rooms and suites at the Gaylord Texan have private balconies over the atrium, and the dining page lists ten places to eat and drink on the property. Reviews put the wait to park and to check in at the top of the complaints, and say food and extras add up, down to paid water refills. Marriott's booking screen for November 11 read "Includes 28 USD Resort Fee," so $28 a night sits inside the rate it shows, and the screen doesn't say whether tax is added. Three nights is $84 in resort fee alone. The rooms page says in-room Wi-Fi comes with it. Room delivery through Texan Eats carries its own $5 fee. Reviews describe the water park as seasonal, roughly May to September, so a winter stay may get the atrium without it, though the Christmas lights draw praise too. Parking is the other cost reviews name. Marriott's page for the resort puts self-parking at $29 a day and valet at $49, so three nights with a self-parked car come to $171 in resort fee and parking.
