Guests describe the gated garage at St. Charles Coach House as free. In a city where most French Quarter and downtown hotels charge for valet, that is real money on a driving trip, but Choice Hotels' page for the property wouldn't load when we checked, so get the parking terms, and any nightly fee, in writing before you count on them. The streetcar stops across St. Charles Avenue, so the car can stay put while you ride into the Quarter or up toward Audubon Park. Rooms get described as large and recently redone, and repeat guests ask for the ones that open onto the shared second-floor balcony. Below the rooms there is very little. Guests report no breakfast and no restaurant, and the bar and lounge space belongs to a separate event venue that is often gated off, which is where most of the disappointment comes from. Plan on coffee in the morning and every meal out. Noise is the other recurring complaint: sirens and shouting on the avenue at night, and from late 2025, construction starting around 6am on a new hotel going up next door. Ask for a room away from the avenue, and ask whether that work has wrapped up. When the hotel is full, guests say garage spaces run short, so arriving late on a busy weekend is a gamble.
