Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Rooms at Hotel Tonnelle run large, bathrooms included, and guests keep saying they get more space than a French Quarter hotel would give them. The building at 2203 St. Charles Avenue was the Hotel Indigo until it took Marriott's Tribute Portfolio flag, and the Jackson Avenue streetcar stop is a few steps from the door. Guests credit the front desk and bar staff with good local tips. The finishes look new, but the fixtures don't always work. Stays in 2026 turned up a broken deadbolt, shower doors that wouldn't close, a TV that stopped responding and worn furniture, and several guests say the room looked great until they actually used it. Asking for a higher corner room helps with both the quiet and the condition. Pets are welcome at $75 per stay, up to two animals of 80 pounds or less. Neither the hotel's own site nor its Marriott page publishes a resort or destination fee. Valet is $53 a day and the hotel publishes no self-park option. Anyone planning to work from the room should know the wifi is patchy in some rooms, badly enough that a front-desk agent has warned guests about it at check-in.
