Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Hyatt Place is where you can drive in and keep using the car. Both self-parking and valet come with unlimited in-and-out privileges, and the self-park is van-accessible. Hyatt's hotel-info page prices self-parking from $60 a night and valet from $74. An older page on the hotel's own site shows $55 and $64, so plan on the higher figures. The booking screen showed no destination fee, which leaves parking as the only add-on Hyatt publishes beyond room tax. The Merchandise Mart is a nine-minute walk, and the CTA Red Line's Grand stop is about a block and a half away. The two pages disagree on times as well: Hyatt's policies page gives check-in as 4:00 PM and check-out as 11:00 AM, while the older page says 3:00 and noon. Go by the policies page. Elevators run slow at peak times, and breakfast hour is when guests notice. No pets are allowed except service animals. The property is cashless, and it puts a $100 authorization on your card per reservation.
