The rooms at Hotel Chicago Downtown are large and the windows run floor to ceiling, with a coffeemaker and a mini-refrigerator in each, and room service is available. Reviews call housekeeping uneven and the decor dated in places. Noise comes up when several events run at once, though the front desk does get credit for apologizing and fixing things when something breaks. The Merchandise Mart is a nine-minute walk. A $25 destination fee is already built into the rate the booking screen shows, and Chicago's room tax is charged on top of that rate. Parking means valet, at $84 a day over that rate, and the hotel's driveway entrance is on North State Street rather than Dearborn.
