Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Parking at the Fairmont is valet only, $88 overnight, and Sunday to Thursday the valet runs 6 a.m. to midnight with no overnight service, so a car that arrives after midnight on a Tuesday has no one to take it. Friday and Saturday it runs around the clock. The resort fee is called the Urban Experience Fee: $30 per room per night plus tax, which Accor's booking screen shows as $35.67 with tax. Add the fee and the valet and you're at $123.67 a night on top of the rate, before any tax on the parking. Reviews of recent stays flag cleanliness and upkeep problems in some rooms, which is harder to accept with that much in add-ons. Millennium Park is in the hotel's name, and its B1 level, home to an art series, connects to the Pedway. Cloud Gate is a 9-minute walk. Dogs and cats under 40 lb are allowed, and short stays carry a $150 non-refundable cleaning fee. The Auto Lobby is on Lake Street just west of Columbus Drive, and GPS or a rideshare can send you to the intermediate level of Lake Street and Columbus Drive instead of the front door.
