Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The InterContinental charges a $35 Daily Amenity Fee that comes to $40.92 a night with its tax: the booking screen for November 17 itemized $2.80 of occupancy tax and $3.12 of sales tax on the fee itself. Among other things, the screen says it buys a daily 20% food and beverage credit for dinner at The Americano and a $20 spa credit per stay. It also covers a $10 daily mini bar credit and Cadillac Escalade car service within a 2-mile radius. Eat dinner at The Americano, the Italian steakhouse, and the credit takes some of the fee back. The hotel has 422 rooms, 12 minutes on foot from Lenox Square, with an outdoor saltwater pool, and pets are allowed for $125 a stay. Self-parking is $49 a day and valet is $62 with in-and-out privileges. With self-parking, the fee and the car come to $89.92 a night, or $102.92 with valet, before the room's own taxes.
