The Bilmar is Treasure Island's anchor, and its comeback is the island's story in miniature: Helene's surge put several feet of water through the ground floor in September 2024, the upper floors spent about five months housing displaced locals and FEMA evacuees, and the rebuild finished with a ribbon-cutting exactly one year after the storm. What you get now is 166 rooms (about 90% of them beachfront) on one of the widest beaches on the Gulf coast, two heated pools, a rooftop sun deck, and Sloppy Joe's on the Beach running live music seven days a week. Know the math and the noise before you book. The mandatory amenity fee runs about $40 plus tax a night; it does return real value (parking, two beach chairs, an hour of kayak or paddleboard time, bikes), but it inflates the headline rate, and value for money is the weakest score in its reviews. The live music is the personality of the place, which means lower floors and rooms near the bar hear it. Parts of the older building still read dated despite the rebuild, check-in queues stretch in peak season, check-in is 21-plus, and pets stay home. It suits families and couples who want food, drinks, and a band steps from a huge beach. Light sleepers should look at the quiet places up the block.

Is the Bilmar fully reopened after the 2024 hurricanes?
Yes. It rebuilt in phases through 2025 and marked the final phase (new lobby, 30-plus first-floor rooms, and the Waves Beach Bar) with a ribbon-cutting on September 26, 2025, one year to the day after Helene. Reviews since read like normal operations.
What does the Bilmar's amenity fee cover?
About $40 plus tax a night, covering self-parking for one car, two beach chairs a day, an hour of kayak or paddleboard use, bikes, towels, and a small food-and-drink credit. Heavy users come out ahead; a one-night stay that uses none of it is paying for the location.
Is the Bilmar loud?
It can be, by design: Sloppy Joe's runs live music seven days a week and the beach bar adds to it. Lower floors and rooms near the bar hear the most. Ask for a higher floor away from the stage, or pick a quieter independent up the block.
How far is the Bilmar from John's Pass?
About two miles north. The Bilmar sits mid-island near 107th Avenue, so Treasure Island's downtown shops and restaurants are the walkable ones, and quieter Sunset Beach is about two miles the other direction. One thing to expect on site: the beach here is exceptionally wide, so it is a long walk across the sand to the waterline.
Are the rooms at the Bilmar beachfront?
