Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Sand Pebble is the quiet option at the John's Pass end of the island: 45 beachfront condos, from efficiencies up to three-bedroom units with full kitchens, wrapped around a garden courtyard with a pool, a kids' pool, an adults-only hot tub, shuffleboard, and gas grills. Parking is free, there's no advertised resort fee, and John's Pass Village with its restaurants and boat trips is a three-block walk. It earns its rating on calm and location rather than polish, so set expectations accordingly: this is an older timeshare-style property, and guests mention dated furniture, actual metal room keys, inconsistent housekeeping, and the occasional maintenance miss. The office keeps hours rather than running around the clock, checkout is an early 10 AM, pets stay home, and there's no restaurant or bar on site, which is either the drawback or the entire point. The 2024 storms flooded the island end to end; Sand Pebble rebuilt its ground level and walkways, and some 2025 guests hit pool outages mid-repair, though recent reviews report everything open. It suits families and longer stays that want a kitchen, a quiet courtyard, and walkable seafood at boardwalk prices. Anyone wanting new-build finish or nightlife should book elsewhere on the island.

Is Sand Pebble walkable to John's Pass?
Yes, about three blocks. That puts the boardwalk's restaurants, bars, shops, and boat tours a five-minute walk away while the resort itself stays quiet, which is the property's whole pitch.
Is Sand Pebble modern inside?
No, and it doesn't pretend to be. It's an older condo property with dated furniture in many units and metal room keys. You book it for the location, the kitchens, the quiet courtyard, and the price, with the ground level rebuilt after the 2024 storms.
Does Sand Pebble have a restaurant or bar?
No. There are gas grills, full kitchens in the units, and John's Pass three blocks away for restaurants. Groceries plus grill is the operating model here.
