Sunset Vistas answers a specific question: where does a family of six sleep on the sand without renting a house? It's the island's only all-suite beachfront resort, 154 two- and three-bedroom apartments with full kitchens, in-suite laundry, and Gulf-facing balconies, plus a resort pool, a kids' pool, two hot tubs, and a 24-hour desk. The resort fee runs $28.25 a night and covers one assigned parking space, Wi-Fi, pool and beach towels and the weekly clean. The trade is that this is a condo hotel, and it behaves like one: housekeeping comes weekly rather than daily, unit decor varies by owner, and a $60-a-day incidental hold lands on stays of two nights or more. The 2024 storms took its ground level hardest; the tiki deck and beach boardwalk were lost, the pool ran unheated for a stretch, and guests reported repair and walkway-resurfacing noise into early 2026, so the ground-floor amenities are the thing to ask about when you book. Reviews also grumble about elevator waits in a building where everyone's hauling groceries up to a kitchen. It suits families and multi-generation groups who want space and self-catering over daily hotel polish, a walkable three-quarters of a mile from John's Pass. Couples wanting a serviced hotel room should look mid-island instead.

Are the hurricane repairs at Sunset Vistas finished?
