Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Until September 2024 this was Le Méridien Delfina. Its owner, Pebblebrook, reflagged it as Santa Monica's first Hyatt and put about $16 million into a refresh that ran into 2025 while the hotel stayed open, so a review from before then may be describing a room that no longer looks that way. The location is better than the Pico Boulevard address sounds. Main Street is about five minutes on foot and the pier about 13, and you're a few blocks back from the busiest stretch, out of the tourist crowd. The staff come up warmly in what guests write. Hyatt lists a $37 destination fee per night, and notes that it's subject to change. Parking is muddled on Hyatt's own pages: the FAQ says valet only, while the parking page lists a self-parking price as well. Plan on valet at $73.16 a night, tax included. With the fee, that's $110.16 a night over the room rate. Dogs of 40 pounds or less cost $50 a night, capped at $150 a stay, with a $200 refundable deposit held on top. Without a car you're fine: Downtown Santa Monica station, the end of the Metro E Line, is about ten minutes' walk.

530 Pico Boulevard is at the south end of downtown Santa Monica, a few blocks inland. Walk five minutes and you're on Main Street; give it ten and you're on the sand. Downtown Santa Monica station on the Metro E Line is also about ten minutes away, and the pier is a little farther, around 13.
