Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles puts every room on the upper floors of a downtown tower, and the outdoor pool is up on a 26th-floor sun deck looking out over the city. The Blue Rooftop Pool Bar sits beside it. It opens seasonally, and the hotel posts no hours for the bar or the pool, so ask before you plan an afternoon up there. The address is the L.A. LIVE block, steps from Crypto.com Arena. That makes this a hotel for a game or a concert you can walk home from. You don't have to leave for dinner either: the hotel lists nine places to eat or drink, Savoca and The Agave Library among them, plus in-room dining. Valet is the only parking the hotel lists, and short stays get no break: $25 for the first two hours, then $20 every half hour, so anything past three hours costs the full $71.50 daily maximum. The booking screen adds a $50 destination fee per night, so a night with a car costs $121.50 before the room rate, and three nights come to $364.50. Tax on the valet and on the fee isn't stated. There's no shuttle. Dogs stay home, because pets aren't allowed at all. Come by rideshare for one show and the parking never reaches your bill.
