Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

Hollywood Bowl tickets are the best reason to book here. The Bowl is about a 10-minute walk up Highland Avenue, and the Walk of Fame and the Hollywood/Highland Metro station are five to eight minutes the other way, so a concert night can happen with no car at all. Guests give the free breakfast and the staff good marks. It's a basic Holiday Inn Express, and some guests have found stains and hair in their rooms. A 7% Service Fee on IHG's rate screen is charged on the room rate every night, so each $100 of rate carries another $7, and taxes of 16.2% sit on top of that. There's no self-parking anywhere on the property. Valet runs $45 a day plus tax, with in-and-out. Drive in for a Bowl show and you're paying $45 plus tax to park a car you won't touch until morning. At check-in the hotel holds one night's room and tax on your card. A standard queen room takes two guests, not three, which rules it out for a parent sharing with two kids.

The hotel is on North Highland Avenue, uphill from Hollywood Boulevard on the way to the Hollywood Bowl. The Bowl is about a 10-minute walk uphill, and the Walk of Fame is about five to eight minutes downhill, with the Hollywood/Highland Metro station about seven.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hollywood Walk of Fame FAQ

Does the Holiday Inn Express Hollywood Walk of Fame charge a resort fee?

$45 a day plus tax, valet only, with in-and-out privileges. The hotel has no self-parking.

Yes, it's about 10 minutes on foot up Highland Avenue. That walk is the main argument for staying here on a concert night.

3 PM, and you must be 18. Check-out is 11 AM. The hotel preauthorizes one night's room and tax on your card when you arrive.
