Discovery Cove is SeaWorld's all-inclusive water day park, and the whole model is the crowd cap: attendance is limited each day, and it's reservation-only with no walk-ups ever. What you get once you're in: snorkel the Grand Reef among rays and tropical fish, drift the tropical lazy river, and wade into a free-flight aviary. Your ticket also covers freshly prepared meals, unlimited snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and select beer and wine, wetsuit and snorkel gear, towels, lockers, sunscreen, and free parking at Discovery Cove. There are two tiers: the Day Resort package (reef and snorkel, no dolphin) or the Dolphin Swim package, which adds a bottlenose dolphin encounter and carries an age minimum. Now the catch. That cap keeps it calm but makes it scarce, so peak-summer dates sell out and Discovery Cove itself suggests booking about two months ahead. The 14 days of unlimited SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica admission you will see quoted all over the web is not part of the base ticket. Discovery Cove sells it as a pricier 2-park version of either tier, with a 3-park version that adds Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, so budget for it as an upsell rather than an inclusion. It is among Orlando's priciest single days: the cheapest Discovery Cove package costs more than the cheapest one-day ticket at Disney World. But the two numbers are not measuring the same thing, since Discovery Cove's covers the meals, drinks, gear and parking while a theme-park ticket covers admission. The dolphin swim is the higher of the two tiers rather than an add-on to the cheaper one. A same-weekend walk-in is off the table. It suits couples and families who want a slow, resort-style water day, snorkelers, and anyone chasing the dolphin-swim bucket-list moment, all planned well in advance.

Do you have to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove?
No. The base Day Resort package is snorkel and reef only. The dolphin swim is a separate, higher-tier package with an age minimum, so you can skip it entirely and still get the reef, lazy river, and aviary.
Can you just walk up to Discovery Cove?
No walk-ups, ever. It's reservation-only with limited daily attendance, so peak-summer dates book out roughly two months ahead. A same-weekend visit is very unlikely to get in.
