Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Hotel ZaZa's November 17 booking screen added $54.02 in fees to one night. The Amenity Fee is the big one at $37.44, which works out to $32 plus 17 percent tax by our division, though the screen doesn't split it. Beside it sit a $3.55 State Recovery Fee and a Credit Card Processing Fee of 2.25 percent, which came to $13.03 and grows with the bill. The amenity fee bundles in the Rosé at check-in, the Butler Pantry, wireless internet and the Magic Carpet Ride shuttle, which covers a 3-mile radius with no route or schedule published. Parking is valet only and no ZaZa page we read prints a price, so ask before you drive. Oversized SUVs and trucks can't be accommodated. A ZIP member package on the offers page includes valet for one vehicle each night. Reviews find some rooms dated for the price. The Dryden/TMC METRORail station, for the Medical Center, is a 27-minute walk, 2,018 meters. Pets are $100 each, non-refundable. You have to be 21 to check in, which runs from 4 pm to midnight.
