Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Four minutes on foot gets you from voco Chicago Downtown to the Merchandise Mart, which ties it with the Holiday Inn at the same address for the shortest walk of any hotel we list in River North. The two share 350 West Wolf Point Plaza, voco in Building 1 and the Holiday Inn in Building 2, so what separates them is the brand and the finish of the room. Reviewers like voco's modern rooms with river views, and they find this stretch of the river quiet for downtown, though a few mention noise from neighboring facilities. IHG's booking screen prints the name as voco Chicago Downtown - Riverwalk and adds a $25 destination fee to every night. Its rate details put Chicago's room tax at 18.9%. You must be 21 to check in, which starts at 4:00 PM. Check-out is 11:00 AM. On-site parking is $63 a day, which puts $88 a night on top of the room once the fee is counted, or $264 over three nights.
