Our take

By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer

The St. Regis sells service. Its butler service covers garment pressing, packing, shoe shining, turndown and morning coffee and tea, and a Les Clefs d'Or concierge team and a complimentary house car sit behind it. The house car goes first come, and reviewers say it can't be reserved. Marriott's booking screen showed no destination fee, which is unusual here: nine of the twelve Loop hotels we list add one. The one-night cancellation charge on the screen came to 1.189 times the rate, which is the rate plus Chicago's 18.9% room tax and nothing else. That read was for a December 16, 2026 night. Valet is $89.00 a day, $267 over three nights, and reviewers name valet and paid Wi-Fi among the extras that add up at a luxury rate. Up to two pets of 50 lb or less can come for $150 a stay. There's a heated indoor pool and a 24-hour Athletic Club, and Cloud Gate is a 14-minute walk. Reviewers say most rooms have no proper desk.
