Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Reviews of the JW Marriott Chicago describe double-paned windows that keep Loop noise out and a pool long enough for laps. The heated indoor pool is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday. There are reports of tired furniture and mildew in the shower grout. The hallways get called a maze. The walk to Cloud Gate takes 16 minutes. Free high-speed Wi-Fi is for Bonvoy members, and enhanced Wi-Fi is free from Gold Elite up. The Florentine is the hotel's restaurant, and in-room dining runs 6 a.m. to midnight. Pets aren't allowed. Check-in opens at 4 p.m. Marriott's booking screen includes a $30 destination fee per night in the price it shows, with tax added after. Valet is off-site and costs $88.00 a day with in-and-out included, so the fee and the valet together run $118 a night, $354 over three nights before tax. The hotel's page also points to independent parking across the street, with no rate given.
