Plaza Beach is the one the ratings back up: it sits near the very top of the whole beach, and it gets there by being a small, family-run place that has done the basics beautifully since 1988. Thirty-nine suites, a 1950s-Florida look, a heated pool deck that opens right onto the sand, and owners still hands-on enough that the staff actually remember you. The value math is where it pulls ahead of the big resorts: parking (one space per room) and the nightly 4-5pm beer-and-wine social hour are both bundled into a $39-plus-tax daily resort fee, which drops to $18 plus tax when you book direct with the hotel. That remains a real saving next to the RumFish at $55 and the Sirata at $40, but it is a resort fee all the same. Reviews come back again and again to the same things: spotless rooms, a genuinely great beach spot, and staff people rave about. A couple of expectations to set: the suites are on the smaller, boutique side, and because the place is small and beloved, it books out fast, so a same-day opening is a real find. Who it suits: couples and small families who want a clean, friendly, direct-to-the-sand base without the fees and crowds of the mega-resorts. Grab it the moment you see availability, because it does not sit around.

Does Plaza Beach Hotel charge a resort fee or for parking?
Both, in effect. The hotel charges a daily resort fee of $39 plus tax, cut to $18 plus tax if you book direct through the hotel's own site, by phone, or in person. That fee covers one self-parking space per room, wifi, pool and beach towels, the in-room safe, EV charging and the 4-5pm beer-and-wine social hour. Extra parking spaces, when available, are $45 a night.
Is Plaza Beach good for a same-day booking?
It is one of the best on the beach when you can get it, but with only 39 suites and a loyal following it books out fast, so same-day availability is the exception. If you see a room open tonight, grab it.
How big are the rooms at Plaza Beach?
They are boutique-sized suites, comfortable and spotless and on the cozier side. Poolside and non-Gulf-front rooms run cheaper and put you just steps from the same sand.
How far is Plaza Beach Hotel from the beach and from restaurants?
The heated pool deck opens straight onto the sand, so the beach is a few steps from your door. Corey Avenue's restaurants are about a five-minute drive and the Don CeSar about ten. The trade is that this is the quieter end of the beach, so there is less within walking distance at night than on resort row.
