Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Joule charges nothing extra for a pet of any size or breed, and it doesn't have to be a dog. Improper waste disposal can cost up to $50 plus cleaning and repairs, and animals stay out of the food and drink outlets and the meeting rooms. It's also an art hotel, with a Taschen library, a rooftop pool with cabanas and daybeds, a spa and the Joule Art Tour. Waits can run long, and the rooms pick up city noise. A few guests found staff unsure of basics like checkout time, which is noon. Walk 13 minutes and you're at the convention center. The hotel's FAQ lists valet at the 1530 Main Street entrance for $68 overnight, with no word on tax, and lists no self-parking. Daily visitors pay $20, and a restaurant visit of up to 2 hours is $5. The booking overlay priced every offer "including all fees" with no itemized line, so we can't say what the price covers beyond the room. A car adds $68 a night to whatever that total turns out to be.
