Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
The Disneyland Hotel takes its theme from the monorail. Disney lists it as near the Monorail to Disneyland Park, and both waterslides at the pool are monorail-themed. That pool area is the best reason to book. You get the E-Ticket and D-Ticket pools and a pair of whirlpools called the Mickey Spa and the Minnie Spa. Poolside cabanas cost extra, at a price Disney doesn't print. Families with kids old enough for the slides get the most from this place, because a pool like that makes leaving the park mid-afternoon an easy sell. If your plan is rope drop to fireworks and a bed after, most of what the hotel offers happens while you're out. Club Level rooms add the High Key Club, a concierge lounge that puts out light bites. Disney's booking screen shows every room as a nightly price before tax with no fee line, so parking is the extra to count. Self-parking is $45 plus tax per night per vehicle, which makes three nights $135 plus tax before the room rate. Valet costs $75 plus tax a night, and oversized vehicles pay $50 plus tax a night.
