Our take
By Matt Spaulding, Founder and writer
Ace Hotel New York runs on its lobby. It's a loud, busy room with its own bar, and coffee off to the side. Guests use it as an office by day and a place to meet people at night, and front desk staff get named again and again for fixing problems on the spot. Upstairs, it comes down to the room. The king rooms and up feel big for Manhattan, and guests bring up the original art and the record player. The smallest rooms are tight, with little storage and a small bathroom. Bunk-bed rooms have caught out pairs of adults who booked on a third-party site without realizing what they'd picked. Lower floors and street-facing rooms pick up sound from the lobby and the street, while guests higher up describe their nights as quiet. Hot water has failed on some mornings in 2026, and the hotel waived the destination fee for some of the guests it hit. If you want a lively base within walking distance of Penn Station and will pay for a king or bigger, this is a good pick. Light sleepers should look elsewhere. So should families who need room to spread out. Every reservation carries a nightly destination fee plus tax, and the hotel's FAQ and its own booking screen give different amounts for it, so read the total on the last screen before you pay.

Does Ace Hotel New York charge a destination fee?
Yes. Every reservation carries a nightly destination fee plus tax. The hotel's FAQ and its own booking screen list different amounts for it, so check the total on the final booking screen before you pay. Several guests also recommend asking for an itemized receipt at check-out.
Is there parking at Ace Hotel New York?
Through a local garage. The hotel has a discounted rate there that you set up by calling or emailing the front desk, and it doesn't publish the price. It also sells a parking package rate that includes nightly parking. If you drive in, 29th Street is inside Manhattan's congestion toll zone, where an E-ZPass car pays $9 at peak hours, charged once a day.
What time is check-in at Ace Hotel New York?
After 3 pm, and you have to be 21 to check in. Check-out is noon. Check-in has occasionally been slow, with long waits for a room, so leave some slack if you have evening plans.
Which room should I book?
A king or bigger if two adults are sharing. The smallest rooms are short on storage and bathroom space, and the bunk-bed rooms are cramped for two adults. If you sleep lightly, ask for a high floor away from the street: guests on upper floors have found it quiet, while lower floors pick up the lobby.
Can I bring my dog to Ace Hotel New York?
Yes, if it's under 25 lbs. The fee is $25 per day per pet, and you sign a waiver at check-in. A pet package on the hotel's site waives the fee, and the hotel asks you to get in touch about a larger dog or a different kind of pet.
